Lincyou may include features that help users understand credibility, contribution, and trust, such as:
- Endorsements
- Badges
- Contribution history
- Trust or reliability signals

To support a trusted community, Lincyou may collect information used to verify claims such as:
- Current student status
- Incoming student status

2.9 Recruiter, internship, or opportunity visibility information
If Lincyou offers career, internship, recruiter, or opportunity-related features, you may choose whether to make selected profile information visible for those purposes.
Recruiter or opportunity visibility should be:
- Off by default
- Based on explicit opt-in
- Limited to the profile sections you choose to share
- Not available to users under 18 unless reviewed and approved under applicable legal and safety requirements
2.10 Payment and UCoin-related information
If Lincyou supports purchases, paid sessions, payouts, or in-app currency, we may collect:
- Transaction records
- UCoin purchases, spends, reversals, and balances
- Session completion records
- Refund, fraud, or support records
- Payout-related information
Payment processing may be handled by third-party payment providers such as Stripe. Lincyou should not store full payment card numbers unless explicitly required and compliant with applicable payment security standards.

If you use AI-assisted features, we may collect:
- Prompts, messages, or requests you submit
- AI-generated responses
- Actions taken through the assistant, such as adding an event or creating a reminder
- Feedback, error logs, or support information related to AI features
AI features may be powered by third-party AI providers. Lincyou should disclose which providers are used, where data is processed, how long AI logs are retained, and whether user data is used to train AI models.
2.12 Usage, device, and technical information
We may automatically collect:
- Logins and session activity
- Feature usage
- Device type
- Browser or app version
- IP address
- Approximate location inferred from IP address

2.13 Support and communications information
If you contact us, we may collect:
- Support tickets
- Emails or messages with our team
- Feedback
- Complaint or dispute records
- Communication preferences
Service communications, such as security notices or account-related messages, may be sent even if you opt out of marketing communications.
3. How we use information
We use personal information to:
- Create, maintain, and secure accounts
- Verify identity, affiliation, age, or eligibility
- Provide Lincyou features and services
- Show profiles, posts, events, recommendations, and community content according to visibility rules
- Help users find relevant people, groups, events, mentors, or opportunities
- Operate goals, calendar, timeline, profile, UCoin, mentorship, and AI features
- Process payments, purchases, payouts, refunds, and fraud checks
- Moderate content and enforce community rules
- Prevent spam, abuse, impersonation, fraud, and unsafe behavior
- Provide support and respond to requests
- Send service-related messages
- Send marketing messages where permitted by law and your preferences
- Analyze and improve the product
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell personal information.
4. Visibility and audience settings
Lincyou is built around real identity and controlled visibility. Different information may be visible to different audiences depending on your settings, the feature, and safety rules.
Lincyou may use audience tiers such as:
- Only me — visible only to you.
- Connections — visible to accepted or mutual connections.
- Campus — visible to verified users at the same school or campus.
- Everyone on Lincyou — visible to signed-in Lincyou users.
4.1 Profile visibility
Profile basics such as name, school, and profile photo may be visible to other users so Lincyou can operate as a real-identity student network. Other profile sections may have more limited visibility settings.
4.2 Timeline and wall visibility
Timeline, milestones, skills, and related profile content may be visible based on your selected audience setting. Lincyou should provide a way to preview how your profile appears to different audiences where feasible.
4.3 Post visibility
When you publish content, the destination determines who can see it:
- Plaza: visible to signed-in Lincyou users across campuses.
- Campus: visible to verified users at your school or campus.
- Course or group: visible to members of that course or group.
- Followers: visible to your followers, subject to feature rules.
A post should keep its original audience wherever it appears, including on your wall, in search results, in feeds, and through shares.
4.4 Plaza visibility
Plaza is a cross-campus discovery feed. Content posted to Plaza may be visible to all signed-in Lincyou users, but it is not intended to be indexed publicly on the internet at MVP.
Because Plaza posts can route other users to the author’s profile or wall, Lincyou should clearly label Plaza as cross-campus visibility at the time of posting.
4.5 Poll visibility
Individual poll votes should not be shown to other users unless clearly stated before voting. Poll creators should generally see aggregate results only.
4.6 Recruiter and opportunity visibility
Recruiter or internship visibility should be off by default and require explicit opt-in. If enabled, users should be able to choose which profile sections are shared.
5. Minors and younger users
Lincyou may be used by students, including users under 18 if the product expands to high school or pre-university students.
For users under 18, Lincyou should apply additional protections, such as:
- More restrictive default visibility settings
- Campus, course, group, or follower-limited posting instead of broad cross-campus posting
- Recruiter visibility disabled unless legally reviewed and approved
- Stronger limits on contactability
- Additional moderation and reporting protections
- Parental, guardian, school, or other consent where required by law
Lincyou should not knowingly collect personal information from children below the minimum permitted age without required consent. The exact minimum age and consent process should be finalized with legal counsel for each launch jurisdiction.
6. How we share information
We may share information in the following situations.

Individual user data should not be shared with an institution or organization unless:
- The user has authorized it,
- The sharing is required to provide a feature the user requested,
- The data is aggregated or de-identified where appropriate, or
- The sharing is legally required.
Lincyou should maintain clear boundaries between individual user data and institution or organization data.
6.4 With recruiters or opportunity providers
If recruiter or opportunity features are available, we share selected user information only when the user has opted in and chosen what to make visible.
6.5 For legal, safety, and compliance reasons
We may disclose information if we believe it is reasonably necessary to:
- Comply with law, regulation, legal process, or government request
- Enforce our terms or policies

7. AI features and automated processing
Lincyou may use AI to support features such as summaries, recommendations, planning assistance, content organization, search, safety review, and user assistance.
AI outputs may be imperfect. Users should not rely on AI outputs as legal, financial, medical, immigration, academic, or professional advice.
Where AI is used to generate recommendations, trust signals, safety decisions, or profile-related insights, Lincyou should provide appropriate transparency and, where required, ways to request review, correction, or deletion.
Lincyou should not use private user content to train external AI models unless clearly disclosed and permitted by law and user consent.

- Profile and timeline content: generally retained until deleted by the user or account deletion, subject to safety and legal exceptions.

- Payment and transaction records: retained as required for financial, tax, fraud prevention, audit, and legal purposes.
- Moderation and safety records: retained as needed to protect users and enforce policies.
If you delete your account, we will delete or de-identify personal information where required, unless retention is necessary for legal, safety, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or legitimate business purposes.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:
- Access your personal information

- Export or receive a copy of your information

- Legal compliance

- Security
- Payment or tax records
- Dispute resolution
- Moderation history
- Protection of other users
Some content may remain visible if it was shared with others, copied, quoted, included in other users’ interactions, or retained in aggregated or de-identified form.
12. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect personal information, including measures designed to prevent unauthorized access, misuse, loss, or disclosure.
No system is completely secure. Users should protect their login credentials and notify us if they suspect unauthorized account access.
